SPIRITUAL TEACHERS

Spirituality is a profound and timeless aspect of human existence that transcends religious affiliations and cultural boundaries. It’s a deeply personal and subjective experience that invites you to delve into the depths of your inner self, seek meaning and purpose, and connect with something greater than yourself.  There are many spiritual teacher sharing their wisdom about consciousness, spirituality and spiritual awakening.

Here are some of my favourite Spiritual teachers – not in any particular order.

* Buddha

So it would only be right to start off with Buddha, as Buddha is the inspiration for this show.  And who hasn’t heard of Buddha.  His teachings centre on the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, which emphasise the path to enlightenment and liberation from suffering. His insights have had a profound impact on the spiritual and philosophical landscape of the world and in understanding the nature of existence and the path to spiritual liberation.

Quotes:

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”

“There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.”

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”

“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”

* Bashar

Darryl Anka is the channeller for Bashar.  He shares Bashar’s teachings, which focus on topics such as the nature of reality, personal empowerment, and spiritual evolution. His messages emphasise the power of self-discovery and the potential for creating a positive and fulfilling life through alignment with one's true self.

Quotes:

The first step towards true enlightenment is to lighten up on yourself.

You have a core vibrational frequency. It is purely uniquely you. It's a beacon. It's like a lighthouse. It shines. It radiates purely that signature frequency of your unique being. It never stops radiating that light, that frequency, that energy - never stops.Everything that is in alignment with that frequency is doing its utmost to come to you.Everything that is not aligned with that frequency is doing its utmost to get as far away from you as it possibly can.If the things that are aligned with that beacon aren't reaching you, it's not because "you're not vibrating at the resonance that you need to attract it". It's because your definitions and beliefs are holding it away.If the things that are trying to get away from you can't get away from you, it's not because they're not trying - it's because you're holding onto them.So the true Secret of the Law of Attraction is not "how to learn to attract what you prefer", it's how to learn to let go of what you don't, so that you can let in what is trying to get to you automatically - by definition.That's the true Secret and that's why it's effortless. It's just about letting go and letting in. It's not about having to learn to do something you're not already doing.

* David R Hamilton PhD - www.drdavidhamilton.com

David R Hamilton is widely known as the kindness guru.  He has a PhD in organic chemistry and formerly worked in R&D in the pharmaceutical industry, developing drugs for heart disease and cancer.  Being directly involved in the clinical trials he started to notice the response to the placebo.  He left the pharmaceutical industry to investigate the mind/body connection and has written 12 books on How the Mind Can Heal the Body, It’s the Thought That Counts, The Contagious Power of Thinking, The Little Book of Kindness, The 5 Side Effects of Kindness, Why Kindness is Good for You, and his latest book The Joy of Actually Giving a F#ck.  When I lived in the UK I was fortunate enough to attend his week long full immersion training course at Lendrick Lodge in Scotland, which is situated on a site where the druids held their fire ceremonies.  It’s an awesome place and David is indeed the epitome of kindness.  I have the pleasure of counting him as a friend and I’m going to try and get him on the show.

Quotes:

Just as the pebble lifts lily pads at the other side of the pond, so an act of kindness lifts the person you help but also many of those connected to that person. As their own spirits are lifted, their behaviour towards others is kinder too.

If a person in a negative train of thought suddenly shifts their body language or facial expressions to reflect a state of happiness or optimism (even if they are pretending), their mental and emotional state changes to reflect their new physical behaviour.”― From The Power of Contagious Thinking

Attitude is everything, they say . . . and I believe this to be true. If we learn to see the positive side of things, then we’ll live longer, healthier, happier lives. A good way to do so is to stop complaining and start being grateful. ― From How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body

Thinking of people and things that annoy us, for example, might slow healing by suppressing the immune system, while thinking in such a way that makes us feel good or relaxed might enhance the immune system”― From How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body

Part of being human is being entitled to be happy. We don’t need to earn the right, just as we don’t need to earn sunlight or oxygen. We’re also entitled to love and health. And we’re entitled to thrive. And when I say ‘entitled’, I mean that there are no questions about this, no arguments, no debates. It just is!”― From I Heart Me: The Science of Self-Love

Quotes:

A memory without the emotional charge is called wisdom.

Warning: when feelings become the means of thinking, or if we cannot think greater than how we feel, we can never change. To change is to think greater than how we feel. To change is to act greater than the familiar feelings of the memorised self.

Your thoughts and feelings come from your past memories. If you think and feel a certain way, you begin to create an attitude. An attitude is a cycle of short-term thoughts and feelings experienced over and over again. Attitudes are shortened states of being. If you string a series of attitudes together, you create a belief. Beliefs are more elongated states of being and tend to become subconscious. When you add beliefs together, you create a perception. Your perceptions have everything to do with the choices you make, the behaviours you exhibit, the relationships you chose, and the realities you create.

To be empowered—to be free, to be unlimited, to be creative, to be genius, to be divine—that is who you are…. Once you feel this way, memorise this feeling; remember this feeling. This is who you really are….

Marianne Williamson is an American author and spiritual teacher, in personal growth and transformation. Quote:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of the universe. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

* Patanjali

Quote:

When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.

Quotes:

Most humans are never fully present in the now, because unconsciously they believe that the next moment must be more important than this one. But then you miss your whole life, which is never not now.”

Give up defining yourself — to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.

What you react to in others, you strengthen in yourself.

* Abraham Hicks

Quotes:

The universe does not know whether the vibration that you're offering is because of something you're observing or something you're remembering or something that you are imagining. It just receives the vibration and answers it with things that match it.

Every time you praise something, every time you appreciate something, every time you feel good about something, you are telling the Universe, More of this, Please.

The emotion you feel is always about the vibrational variance between where you want to be and where you are.

Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don't want.

Quotes:

The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.

You are a function of what the whole universe is doing in the same way that a wave is a function of what the whole ocean is doing.

Through our eyes, the universe is perceiving itself. Through our ears, the universe is listening to its harmonies. We are the witnesses through which the universe becomes conscious of its glory, of its magnificence.

Quotes:

What drains your spirit drains your body. What fuels your spirit fuels your body.

The soul always knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.

I am convinced that the deepest desire within each of us is to be liberated from the controlling influences of our own psychic madness or patterns of fear. All other things—the disdain of ordinary life, the need to control others rather than be controlled, the craving for material goods as a means of security and protection against the winds of chaos—are external props that serve as substitutes for the real battle, which is the one waged within the individual soul.

Just let go. Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is trying to work its way into your consciousness.
